Orchid Haul # 1! Order from Paramount Orchids

In October I had my first experience ordering from an online orchid vendor. Lucky for me, there are TWO dealers in my province.

So that means ORCHID HAUL!

This haul was from Paramount Orchids, out of Vancouver Island, BC.

These are the orchids I ordered, three from their list were not in stock so I substituted two. Imagine the theme from the Simpsons when homer visits the land of chocolate, which was my perfect-world soundtrack to this.

Burrageara Nelly Isler 'Swiss Beauty' (Burr Stefan Isler x Milt Kensington)

Cattleya intermedia (Orlata' x 'Aquinii') (species)

Cattleya intermedia (var orlata rio)

brassavola flagellaris

Brassavola nodosa

Oncidium Twinkle (Onc (sotoanum) x cheirophorum)

Goodalarea Eurostar 69 (Bllra. Tahoma Glacier x Onc. Schroederianum)

I wasn't sure what to expect but I would rate ordering ease as 5/10, as the web form was pretty awkward, and they did not have an online payment processing and I had to call to give my credit info. Maybe from being an relatively tech savvy person expected a little too much. But as someone who is also a bit of an introvert, this was a medium sized barrier for me.

Most of the plants looked great and two were even in spike! However the Cattleya intermedia Rio looked pretty dehydrated and did not plump up after a few days, it seems to have pretty weak, brown roots. Other than that I was very happy with the outcome. The package also arrive very quickly, in less than 24 hours, so I did not have to worry about extra stress on my plants.
